How a currency index is built

An index is 100 × the exponential of the average log price across the currency's pairs, inverted where the currency is the quote. It uses the same pairs and bars as the currency strength ranking, so its change over a lookback tracks the strength score closely.

The level itself has no meaning on its own; what matters is the direction and how it compares with the other indexes. When EURX is rising and USDX falling, EUR/USD is rising for both reasons at once.
